A Special Thanksgiving
By Beth Beutler

1     Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I guess it is because it is a warm, family time. It is a time to reflect on our blessings. It is a time of enjoying plenty of good food and relaxing on the couch while watching a game of football on television.

2     For several years our family has relaxed even more by having someone else do the cooking! Since we are a small family (I'm an only child), we don't have a lot of relatives to get together with. We started to take a yearly trip to Mystic, Connecticut. There is a restaurant there called the Seafarer that we like.

3     The Seafarer puts out a huge buffet of all kinds of foods. There is also a beautiful ice sculpture in the center of the buffet table. We can go back to the buffet as often as we want. There are several salads, meats, vegetables, and desserts. Somehow, being in a historic spot like Mystic with its old ships and museum displays makes it seem a little more like an old-fashioned Thanksgiving.
