In Bed
By Beth Beutler

1     I didn't plan for it to happen. Wilson asked me if I could check on the garden. It had been very dry lately. We had not had rain for over a month. I thought I should water the plants. I did not realize what would happen!

2     Let me start at the beginning. I live in a big old house in England. It is a family home. It has been in our family for a very long time. It is a huge house. It also has a humongous garden where I love to play.

3     Because it is so big, my sister, brother, and I often play hide-and-go-seek in the garden. There are many places to hide. The large bushes provide a place to crouch. There is a gazebo with lots of vines growing over it.

4     Wilson is our gardener. He works very hard to make that garden beautiful. One day, he was not feeling very well. So he asked me to check on a section of spring flowers that were just popping out.
