In Bed
By Beth Beutler

1     I didn't plan for it to happen. Wilson asked me if I could check on the garden. It had been very dry lately. We did not have rain for over a month. I thought I should water the plants. I did not realize what would happen!

2     Let me start at the beginning. I live in a big, old house on England's countryside. It was a family home. It had been in our family for a very long time. It was a huge house. It also had a humongous garden where I loved to play.

3     My sister, brother, and I would play hide-and-go-seek in the garden. There were many places to hide. The large bushes provided a place to crouch. There was a gazebo with lots of vines growing over it.

4     Wilson was our gardener. He would work very hard to make that garden beautiful. One day, he was not feeling very well. So he asked me to check on a section of daffodils that were just popping out.
