My Blood
By Jennifer Kenny

Peter was riding his bike. He fell off. He cut his leg.

"Are you ok?" his mom asked.

"No! I am bleeding," Peter said. He cried. "I wish I had no blood in me."

Peter's mother gave him a big hug. She cleaned the cut. She put a bandage on his leg.

Then Peter's mother looked at him. "I know your leg hurts," she said, "but I am glad you have blood in you."

     "Why?" Peter asked.

"Well, do you remember what your heart does?" Peter's mother asked.

     Peter said, "My heart beats."
