¹     Peter was riding his bike. He fell off. He cut his leg.
 
²     "Are you ok?" his mom asked.
 
³     "No! I am bleeding," Peter said. He cried. "I wish I had no blood in me."
 
⁴     Peter's mother gave him a big hug. She cleaned the cut. She put a bandage on his leg.
 
⁵     Then Peter's mother looked at him. "I know your leg hurts," she said, "but I am glad you have blood in you."
 
⁶     "Why?" Peter asked.
 
⁷     "Well, do you remember what your heart does?" Peter's mother asked.
 
⁸     Peter said, "My heart beats."
