¹     Carl was home sick. He had a runny nose. He also had a small cough.
 
²     Carl watched some TV. He drew a picture. He took a nap. He went to bed early that night.
 
³     Carl stayed home again. He did all the same things.
 
⁴     The next morning was strange. Carl was home sick. He still had a runny nose. He still had a small cough. He also had a rash.
 
⁵     He had a rash on his chest. He also had a rash on his face.
 
⁶     "Mommy!" Carl yelled.
 
⁷     "Yes," said his mom. "What's up?"
 
⁸     "I have a rash," Carl said.
 
⁹     Carl's mother came to look at him. She looked at the rash. "Uh-oh," she said.
