1 “Lindsey," called Mom from the kitchen. “It's time to make dinner, are you ready?"
2 “Yes, I am!" answered Lindsey as she came down the stairs.
3 Entering the kitchen, Lindsey grabbed the new apron her grandmother had given her for her birthday.
4 “What are we making?" she asked her mom.
5 “Lasagna, salad, and garlic bread," said Mom.
6 “That's my favorite!" Lindsey exclaimed.
7 “I know," said Mom. “I thought it would add to the fun of your first time helping to make dinner."
8 “Oh, it will!" said Lindsey. “What do we do first?"
9 “Since you will be handling food, the first thing you need to do is wash your hands," said Mom.
10 “O.K," said Lindsey walking to the sink and reaching for the soap. When she finished she said, “All ready, what's next?"
11 “We need to gather the ingredients. First we'll brown the hamburger in a large pot. Why don't you get the package of hamburger out of the fridge, and I'll grab the pot," said Mom.
12 Lindsey got the hamburger and brought the package to her mom.
