How to Quit Smoking
By Jennifer Kenny

1     Smoking is addictive. It is a serious health risk. Therefore, there are numerous antismoking programs in the United States. For many who now understand the risks, learning how to quit is extremely important.

2     Researchers have studied smokers who have quit. The risk of dying from a disease associated with smoking goes down each year that person continues not to smoke. Those who quit smoking before age fifty reduce the risk of certain diseases by half after quitting for one year.

3     Besides the health benefits, there are other benefits when one quits smoking. Certainly, money is saved. Cigarettes and cigars are quite costly. A person who quits smoking can once again enter many places that now ban smoking. Also, health insurance premiums are often lower for nonsmokers.
