1 Emily was a star athlete in ninth grade. She was traveling to a swimming competition on a Thursday afternoon with her parents and her younger sister. While her father drove them to get to the meet, a drunk driver crossed over the middle line on the road into their lane and hit their car head on. Emily's mother was killed. Emily would never walk again due to the injuries she sustained. Her family would never be the same.
