An Apple a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

1     “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” or so it has been claimed. According to legend, the only time Johnny Appleseed got sick was at the time of his death. Since he was born on September 26, 1774 and lived until 1845, that is over 80 years without being sick!
 
2     Can you imagine never being sick? You probably catch at least one cold per year, or maybe more. Do you ever have to go to a doctor or be put on an antibiotic?
 
3     I've read that apple juice is a very healthy thing to drink, and it helps you fight off viruses and colds. Perhaps eating an apple would do the same thing. That may be where we get the saying about apples keeping doctors away!
