Police
By Vickie Chao

1     Police are key members in our community. They are the people we go to see when we feel unsafe. They are the people we call when we have problems.

2     Being a police officer is not easy. The work is tiring. It is also risky. When the police answer 9-1-1 calls, they can run into bad people. Sometimes those bad people carry knives or guns. They can hurt or even kill the police.

3     Besides answering 9-1-1 calls, the police do many other things. For example, when a person is missing, the police will collect clues from some good sources. They will talk to people who know the person. They will talk to people who may have seen the person last. They will check places where the person may have been last. They will do all they can to find the person. They will not give up easily! When the police see a speeding car, they will stop it. If they do not, the driver of the speeding car can have an accident and hurt other people. When the police see a person trying to break into a house, they will stop and question the person. If they do not, the person can steal things from the house.
