Paramedics
By Phyllis Naegeli

1     The 9-1-1 worker answers a call. A man is upset. His wife is very sick. She needs help. Who will help? The paramedics (pair-uh-MED-iks) will help.

2     The 9-1-1 worker picks up a radio. He calls the paramedics. A team of two is ready to go help. They drive fast in an ambulance (AM-byu-lents). The sirens are on. Soon they arrive.

3     The sick woman is lying down. The paramedics ask questions. She says it is hard to breathe. The paramedics put a mask on her face. This gives her oxygen. It will help her breathe.
