Baker, Baker, Donut Maker
By Brenda B. Covert

1     Open the door of a bakery and sniff. Mmmm, that smells good! Bakery shops are in every town and city. Bakers make many kinds of goodies. A baker may make loaves of bread. Other items you see in a bakery are cakes, pies, muffins, bagels, cookies, and donuts. Some bakers make only one kind of treat. Fancy wedding cake often comes from a special bakery.

2     Have you ever entered a donut shop? The smell makes your mouth water! They bake all kinds of donuts: plain, glazed, chocolate, blueberry, and cream-filled are just a few of the choices! How do they do it?

3     The bakers arrive early in the morning. They must have hot donuts to sell when the shop opens. It takes about an hour to make donuts. Bakers make donuts all day long. Many people will come to the shop to buy donuts!
