Grandma's Garden
By Joyce Furstenau

1     "Honk, honk, honk," cried the geese as they flew over Grandma's garden, "honk, honk." The geese flew in a perfect "V" shape. Grandma looked up. She saw the geese in the sky.

2     "Spring is here," said Grandma. "The geese are coming back. It's time to get the garden ready."

3     Grandma got her garden rake and hoe. Grandma put on her gloves. She began digging in the ground. She dug up the ground in nice straight rows. Grandma began to put seeds in the ground.

4     Grandma planted corn, beans, lettuce, and peas. She planted pumpkins for her grandson, Glen. She was glad when she was done. Grandma had a great garden.

5     Each day Grandma gave her garden lots of water. The sun shone on Grandma's garden. Soon little green sprouts could be seen in the garden. First, came the green lettuce. Next, the green peas began to grow. Last, the green beans, corn, and pumpkins began to grow. Grandma's garden was growing now. Grandma was glad her garden was looking so green.
