The Old Goat and the Idaho Potato
By Joyce Furstenau

1     Eight-year-old Joe brought an old photograph to school for show and tell. The photo showed a goat standing in a potato field in New Mexico.

2     "Everyone knows potatoes don't grow in New Mexico," said one boy. "Potatoes grow in Idaho."

3     "Oh, no," said Joe, "They grow potatoes in other places, too. My grandfather gave me this photo. He told me a story about how the potato was brought to Idaho."
