The Job Application
By Cathy Pearl

1     Sue wanted to get a job at the grocery store. She went to the store and asked for an application. She was hoping to get a new job.

2     She brought the application home and sat at the kitchen table. Sue wanted to get it filled out right away. Sue knew that she needed to fill it out in pen. The pen had to be blue or black, too. It couldn't be a crazy color like red or orange. Sue wanted to look like an adult on this application.

3     She started at the top. Her name and address were the first things she needed to fill out. Sue was careful. She needed to make sure everything was spelled correctly. If she spelled something wrong, they might throw her application in the garbage. She didn't want that to happen.

4     Sue also needed to fill in her phone number. She made sure to write them down very clearly. The store would call her for an interview or to ask her if she still wanted the job. Sue wanted to make sure they could find her.

5     The next part was titled education. Sue knew that meant where she had gone to school. Sue filled in her high school. She put the year she started. Then she put what year she was going to graduate. That would show the store she was still going to school.
