Making Soup
By Cathy Pearl

Victoria went to the cupboard. She pulled out a can of soup. "Mom!" she yelled.

Mom came running into the kitchen. "What's wrong, Victoria?"

"I want soup for lunch," said Victoria. "I don't know how to make it."

"You have to read the label," Mom said.

Victoria made a face. "I don't know how to read the label. Can't you make it for me?"

Mom shook her head. "Nope. If you want soup, you will have to make it. I can help you."

Victoria sighed. "Okay, what do I need to do?"

"Look at the side of the can. Find the directions for how to make the soup."
