Mopping the Floor
By Cathy Pearl

1     Marie's dog had played in the mud. When she let him into the house, he had made a mess on the floor.

2     Marie knew that she had to mop the floor now. It was her job to clean it if her dog made a mess. She didn't like to mop, but she didn't want her mom to get rid of the dog either.

3     The first thing Marie did was wash the dog's feet. She didn't want to clean the floor and then have the dog make a mess again. She used a wet paper towel to wipe off the dog's feet. Then she put Max in her bedroom so he wouldn't get in the way. Sometimes he liked to chase the mop and that made the job take twice as long.
