Finding a Nonfiction Book
By Patti Hutchison

1     You are at the public library. It's a little scary. All those books! How will you ever find the one you need?

2     Your report on the Revolutionary War is due soon. You need a nonfiction book for your research. Nonfiction books are filled with facts. They are not stories that are made up.

3     A good place to begin is at the library's online catalog. Type in "Revolutionary War," and click on the keyword button. A list of books about the Revolutionary War will come up. After each book are some words and numbers.

4     These words and numbers give a lot of information. They tell the title of the book, the author, and the year it was published. They also give the call number and tell whether the book is in or checked out.
