1     Patti was leaving the house with her mom. They were going to the doctor. Patti's mom asked her to lock the door before they left.
 
2     "Why do we lock the house?" Patti asked.
 
3     "We lock it just to keep everything safe," Mom said.
 
4     Patti looked confused. "Why would locking the door keep everything safe?"
