Jake and Jackie Plan a Party
By Beth Beutler

The end of the semester was coming. Jake and Jackie could hardly wait for a break from school. One day, as they were walking home from school and talking about the fun they would have on the break that was coming up in two weeks, Jackie had an idea.

"I just thought of something, Jake!" she exclaimed.

Jake looked at Jackie cautiously. Whenever Jackie had one of her "ideas," it usually meant more work for Jake.

"Why don't we plan a party to celebrate the end of the semester?"

Jake pursed his lips and considered the suggestion.

"It could be fun," Jake said as they neared a bench at a small park in their neighborhood.

"Of course it will be! Now, let's sit down and write down some ideas."

Jake rolled his eyes as Jackie pulled out a notebook. It seemed that Jackie always was writing down ideas. Sometimes, she didn't do anything about them, but he had to admit she had plenty of them!
