Bus Driver
By Kathleen W. Redman

1     It takes a special person to be a bus driver. There is a lot of stress in the job. Drivers have to know how to stay calm. They must be alert. They have to be very careful in heavy traffic or in bad weather. They have to know how to drive well and how to deal with passengers. Do you think you would like that kind of job?

2     Bus drivers provide transportation for millions of people every year. There are two major kinds of bus drivers. Transit drivers take people from one location to another in a city or from one city to another city. They may even travel from state to state. School bus drivers take students from home to school and from school back home.

3     Bus drivers pick up and drop off people at bus stops, stations, and other places. They follow time schedules. They cannot get ahead of their schedules. If they do, they might miss passengers. If they are late, their passengers get to work or school late.
