¹     Mr. Edwin sat on the couch and read the daily newspaper. Meghan lay on the floor in front of the couch reading a book.
 
²     "Hmm, that's interesting," Mr. Edwin commented.
 
³     Meghan looked up from her book. "What's interesting?"
 
⁴     "There's a pull-out section in the newspaper about the convention," said Mr. Edwin, looking over a colorful page of the newspaper.
 
⁵     "What convention?" asked Meghan, puzzled.
 
⁶     "The Democratic National Convention," said Mr. Edwin.
 
⁷     "What's that?"
 
⁸     "It's a four-day event where delegates and members of the Democratic Party meet to nominate their candidate for president."
 
⁹     Meghan sat up and faced her dad. "Is it a part of the election this year?"
 
¹⁰     "Yes it is," said Mr. Edwin. "It's quite an event -- a big party for the party!"
 
¹¹     Meghan giggled. "Funny, Dad. What do they do at the convention?"
 
¹²     "Come sit up here and look over the paper with me," said Mr. Edwin.
 
¹³     Meghan rose from the floor and sat next to her dad on the couch.
 
¹⁴     "The schedule starts right here," said Mr. Edwin, pointing to a list of events. "Each day is full of speeches and other events."
