Congressional Aide
By Phyllis Naegeli |

1 Members of Congress are very busy people. They work in Washington, D.C. and represent the people of their home state. To help them to do their job well, they hire aides. Congressional aides perform a variety of tasks for senators and representatives. Some aides work in Washington, D.C. Others work in the congressional representative's home state. In either location, clerical aides perform tasks such as word processing, filing, opening and sorting mail, and fielding phone calls. Other aides perform research, conduct polls, or provide computer support.
