Jennifer Lopez
By Vickie Chao

1     Born on July 24, 1969, into a Puerto Rican family, Jennifer Lopez is, by far, one of the most famous female Latin Americans in showbiz. Throughout her career, she has released several best-selling albums and played leading roles in numerous hit movies. In recent years, she has also focused her attention on creating her own line of clothing and perfumes. Both, like most of her other projects, have been extremely successful!

2     Of course, all the achievements that Jennifer Lopez has had so far did not come easily. She has worked hard to get to where she is today. When she first started out, she was a struggling artist waiting for her big break. At sixteen, she won a small part in the film My Little Girl, but this stint did not yield any fruitful results. For the next few years, she juggled between working in a law office and taking dancing lessons. After several failed auditions, she finally earned a role to become one of the dancing "Fly Girls" on the television sketch comedy series In living color. When that gig ended, she moved on to other television projects like South Central, Second Chances, and Hotel Malibu. Unfortunately, all three of them were flops. Right around the same time, Jennifer Lopez also worked as a back-up dancer for Janet Jackson. She made an appearance in the pop diva's 1993 video "That's the Way Love Goes."
