Z End
By Beth Beutler

Why is the letter Z at the end of the alphabet?
I wonder.
Is it because it zoomed to the end?
Does it feel like a zero?
Does it want to zap the other letters?

At first, it seems that Z is not used for much.
But, Z is quite amazing.
It adds zip to some words, like crazy!
Where would words like zap and zig and zag be without Z?
Zany, zinc, and zilch would not have the same zest, either.
Memorize, agonize, or prioritize surely would sound less smooth off of our tongues!

Z gives us a zoo and zoology.
Z gives us zillions. (How many dollars is that?)
Z gives us a zone and zombies.
Z puts the fizz in our soft drinks.
Bacon could not sizzle without it.
Z puts me in a tizzy when my hair is frizzy!
It makes my kitty fuzzy!
Where would Dorothy be without the Wizard of Oz?
So, the next time you think Z is boring, think again.
Maybe the alphabet saved "Z best for Z end!"
