Let Your Fingers Do the Marching
By Jody Williams

1     What does it mean to march? People can march in a band. Ants can march through a picnic. Children can march to music. Now, people can march on their computers. Laurie David started a Virtual March on Washington. She uses the computer to teach people. She wants people to learn about global warming. Laurie wants people to know what it is doing to the Earth. She wants people to know it is a problem.

2     Global warming is when the Earth's temperature gets higher. A warmer Earth changes how much rain we get. It makes the sea level rise. It affects plants, people, and animals. Some scientists have said that global warming makes the hurricanes stronger. Global warming is caused by people.

3     Laurie says that our seasons have changed. It is because of global warming. What we expect winter to be like is changing. Summer time is changing too. They are getting warmer. Laurie believes that people can stop this problem.
