Teller of Secrets
By Brenda B. Covert

Moonflower Giggletwig was so upset that she slapped the pollen off the nearest flower.

"That was supposed to be a secret!" she cried. "The only faerie who knew about it was Silverleaf Moonstone. He promised not to tell anyone."

The pollen settled on the upset faerie's blue and purple dress. It also settled on her friend, Starwing Jellyrain. Starwing brushed the pollen off and pouted.

"I can't believe that you told Silverleaf and not me!" she said. "I thought we were best friends."

"We are!" Moonflower assured Starwing. "I didn't tell Silverleaf that I still suck my thumb. Why would I want anyone to know that?"

Moonflower had been dozing on a lily pad in the bog. A leaf was propped up to hide her from the other creatures that lived there. Their croaking, quacking, humming, and buzzing always made her sleepy. Then Silverleaf Moonstone came along. He had spied Moonflower's foot sticking out from under the leaf. He had slipped up on her and tickled her foot and pulled off the leaf. That's when her eyes popped open and met Silverleaf's. That's when she pulled her thumb out of her mouth and blushed.

Starwing pursed her lips. "What are you going to do?"

Moonflower decided to tell Silverleaf how angry she was. Off she went with Starwing following after her.

They found Silverleaf swinging on a vine. "Silverleaf Moonstone, you're a big liar!" Moonflower yelled, pointing a finger in his face. "You told my secret, and now everyone knows!"

Silverleaf looked stunned. "I promised not to tell, and I didn't," he protested.
