¹     "I want to play in the park," moaned Tess.

²     "Mom says we can't," said Tim. "She says it's too dark."

³     "Why the long face, Tess?" asked Wendy.

⁴     "Mom has a rule about not going to the park when it's dark," said Tess. "I don't like Mom's rules."

⁵     "She made that rule to keep you safe," said Wendy.

⁶     "You might get hurt in the dark," added Tim.

⁷     "I don't care," moaned Tess. "I don't like rules."

⁸     "Why don't your ask you mom if you can come to my house?" offered Wendy. "I need some help on a school project."
