1     ¿Cómo sería vivir en las Grandes Llanuras? El cielo era amplio y abierto y había pocos árboles que lo ocultaran. Allí era donde vivían los sioux.
 
2     En las zonas de pastoreo se alimentaban muchas clases de animales. Había ciervos, antílopes, conejos y otros animales pequeños. El más grande era el bisonte.
 
3     El bisonte era grande, rápido y podía matar a un hombre. Los sioux necesitaban su carne para vivir. Tenía buen sabor y también podía alimentar a muchas personas.
 
4     Antes de que llegaran los caballos, era difícil cazar bisontes. A veces, los hombres intentaban acercarse sigilosamente a una manada. Y luego les disparaban. En otras ocasiones, intentaban correr a los bisontes hasta los acantilados.
