1     No es de sorprender que Eve Bunting se haya hecho escritora cuando creció. Nació y se crió en Irlanda, un país conocido por la narración de historias. No sólo le encantaba relatar historias a Bunting, también amaba leerlas. Los libros eran buenos compañeros los días lluviosos.
 
2     Eve Bunting se hizo mayor y se casó con un hombre al que le encantaban los libros tanto como a ella. En 1958, emigraron de Irlanda y vinieron a los Estados Unidos con sus tres hijos. California pasó a ser su nuevo hogar.
 
3     Bunting tenía treinta años y todavía no había empezado su carrera como autora de libros infantiles. Para comenzar, hizo un curso de redacción creativa en una universidad local. En su casa, convirtió un pequeño ático en su espacio de trabajo propio. Encontraba ideas para historias en los libros, revistas y periódicos que leía. ¡Probablemente escribía en su ático mientras sus hijos hacían la tarea abajo!
