1     ¿Alguna vez te preguntaste qué inspira a algunas personas para que se les ocurra un nuevo invento? Una necesidad. ¿Alguna vez te preguntaste qué motiva a alguien que enfrenta una adversidad? El anhelo de vivir la mejor vida posible. Entender estas dos cosas ayuda a explicar la vida de Louis Braille.
 
2     Louis Braille vino al mundo el 4 de enero de 1809. Nació en Coupvray, Francia, que se encuentra cerca de París. Fue el cuarto hijo que tuvieron Simon-Rene y Monique Braille.
 
3     Louis era un niño brillante e inquisitivo. Cuando tenía tres años, entró al taller de su padre. Él hacía arneses y monturas. Tomó un punzón, que es una herramienta con punta para hacer agujeros, y se lastimó el ojo izquierdo con él cuando se le deslizó. Luego se infectó. La infección se extendió al otro ojo y como resultado, quedó ciego.
