Un visitante baboso

1     Anoche vino un visitante al jardín de mi mamá. Sé que estuvo allí por que dejó un rastro de baba. ¡Era muy baboso! ¡También tenía dos cuernos! ¿Quién estuvo en el jardín de mi mamá? ¿Un monstruo? No, no era un monstruo. ¿Un dragón? No, tampoco era un dragón. ¿Era sólo un mal sueño? No, el visitante era real. Pero no te preocupes: ¡era sólo un caracol!
 
2     Existen muchas clases de caracoles en el mundo. Algunos viven en el desierto, algunos, en jardines, otros incluso viven en el océano. Todos son de tamaños diferentes. Algunos son pequeños, de sólo un milímetro. Otros pueden tener hasta treinta pulgadas. El caracol de tierra más grande que se haya encontrado jamás fue un caracol gigante africano. ¡Pesaba dos libras!
 
3     Los caracoles comienzan sus vidas como huevos. Cuando salen del huevo, tienen una concha y un cuerpo muy pequeños. Después crecen mucho. Tienen al menos un par de antenas en sus cuerpos. Algunos tienen dos pares. Se las conoce como cuernos o tentáculos. Los ojos de los caracoles están en la punta de estos cuernos. Cuando lo necesita, el caracol puede meter los cuernos en el cuerpo y protegerse.
