Servir y proteger

1     ¿Qué haces cuando ves un accidente? En muchos lugares, se llama 9-1-1; en otros lugares, se llamaría al policía. Lo mismo es cierto para cualquier otro tipo de problema para el cual se necesita ayuda de la ley. La responsabilidad de un policía es ayudar a mantener la paz en nuestros pueblos y vecindarios. Otro nombre para un policía es un oficial de la paz.
 
2     Muchos departamentos del policía usan las palabras, -Servir y Proteger- como su lema. A veces se piensa que nos protegen sólo por vigilar en sus coches. Esa es una buena manera de evitar que la gente sobrepase el límite de velocidad o rompa otras leyes de tráfico, pero no es la única manera.
 
3     Algunos policías llegan a ser parte de las fuerzas montadas. Montan caballos en parques donde se les hace difícil manejar coches. También usan los caballos para ayudar a controlar los lugares que están llenos de gente y evitar los disturbios. A veces las ciudades grandes tienen muchos policías montados. Muchas veces hacen demostraciones especiales de cómo hacen sus trabajos. Normalmente hay muchos colores y se divierte mucho en verlas. También dejan que el público vea el entrenamiento y trabajo de equipo entre los hombres y los caballos.
