1     Un día, la maestra le dijo a su clase que iban a salir para contar cosas. La primera cosa que contaron eran los árboles. Entonces, contaron las flores. Después la maestra dijo que iban a contar los pájaros. No sabían cómo iban a hacer eso. Los pájaros vuelan. Los pájaros brincan. Los pájaros no quedan en un lugar por mucho tiempo.
 
2     Cada año, acerca del 23 de diciembre, la gente cuenta los pájaros. Forman grupos a través de América del Norte. Acerca de 50.000 personas participan cada año. Ha llegado a ser una tradición festiva. Una tradición es algo que se hace año tras año.
 
3     Los grupos reportan lo que encuentran. La información se envía a la Sociedad Audubon. Trabajan para proteger la naturaleza. Protegen los animales. Trabajan para mantener la naturaleza segura y bella.
