Un tipo speciale di giornata

1     Sonya era seduta sul pavimento del salotto. Accanto a lei era steso il cane di casa, Sandy. Era un meticcio. Sua madre era stata in parte collie, mentre nessuno sapeva realmente di che razza fosse il padre. A Sonya non importava. Pensava che fosse il miglior cane che si fosse mai potuto avere. Gli aveva insegnato vari trucchi e voleva insegnargliene degli altri.
 
2     Sonya strofinava le orecchie di Sandy mentre il papà leggeva il giornale. Improvvisamente lo ripiegò e lo girò in modo che lei potesse vedere.
 
3     "Sonya, guarda questo. Il giornale fa un concorso per bambini. Potrebbe essere interessante per te" disse.
 
4     "Puoi leggerlo per me, papà?" chiese Sonya mentre guardava in su con interesse.
 
5     "Dice che fanno un concorso per inventare la tua festa" disse papà.
 
6     "Inventare la tua festa?"
 
7     "Certo" disse papà. "Pensare a qualcosa che ti piacerebbe festeggiare, e poi scrivere su di esso".
 
8     "Non saprei che cosa scegliere" disse Sonya con un sospiro. "Tutte le feste migliori sono già fatte".
 
9     "Pensa alle cose che ti piacciono. Che ne dici di scegliere la Giornata degli Artisti?" suggerì papà. "Ti piace dipingere e disegnare. Forse sarebbe bello avere una giornata in onore degli artisti?"
