Arizona's Natural Wonder-The Grand Canyon

1     Arizona is a very special state. One of the interesting things about Arizona is the Grand Canyon. Many people come from all over the world to hike, draw, and take pictures of the Grand Canyon. Many people also take trips on the river that runs through the Grand Canyon. Arizona welcomes all of them. Arizona likes sharing one of the eight natural wonders of the world with visitors.

2     There are many ways to see the Grand Canyon. Some people hike into the canyon. Some people hike all the way to the bottom. Some people hike a little way down, then turn around, and hike back out. Some people ride mules down the paths. Some ride all the way to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Some ride a little way down, and then turn around, and ride the mule back out.

3     The Colorado River runs at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Many people take a boat trip on the river. Some trips last a few hours. Some trips last many days. On the trips that last many days there is a guide to help steer the boat on the river. People sleep in tents and eat around a campfire. Nothing can be left on the banks of the river. Everything that goes on the boat trip must come out on the boat trip, even the garbage!
