I Hate My Life!, Part 1
By Kathleen W. Redman

1     "This is so stupid!" Mark yelled. "I don't want to go on vacation with my lame family. I don't want to spend two weeks with my whiny little sister. I want to stay here with my friends. It isn't fair to make me go!" Mark threw his books on the table and stormed off to his room.

2     Mr. and Mrs. Jackson looked at each other. Mark's outburst hadn't surprised them, but they were hurt to know he didn't want to spend time with his family.

3     "What do you think is wrong with him?" Mrs. Jackson asked.

4     "I don't know," Mr. Jackson said. "Maybe he's old enough to stay at home by himself. It will be just for two weeks."

5     "Do you really think he is responsible enough to be on his own?" Mrs. Jackson wondered.
