Making a Reservation
By Patti Hutchison

John called Lisa on the phone. "Let's go to that fancy restaurant you've always wanted to try," he said excitedly.

"Picasso's?" Lisa asked. "You know that it's really expensive."

"I want to celebrate," John told her. "I got a raise today at work!"

     "That's great news!" Lisa exclaimed.

"So, get your fancy dress on, and meet me there," John told her.

"Did you make reservations?" Lisa asked.

"No," John admitted. "I didn't even think of it."

"You know they are always busy," Lisa said. "You should make a reservation so we don't have to wait a long time for a seat."

"That's a good idea," John agreed. "I'll call the restaurant, and then I'll call you back."

"Okay," Lisa said, hanging up the phone.

John didn't know the phone number for the restaurant. He had to look it up. He found the Yellow Pages among the other phone books in his drawer. He quickly turned to "R" for the listings for the restaurants in his area. John scanned down the page. He quickly found the name of the restaurant. He dialed the number.

After three rings, someone answered the phone. "Picasso's," the woman said, "may I help you?"
