Five a Day

1     A variety of foods is important to good health and balanced nutrition. That's evidenced in the food pyramid. How does the term "5 a Day" fit into an overall good nutrition plan?
 
2     The "5 a Day for Better Health Program" is actually a national program established during the 1990s. The term 5 a Day has become a catch-phrase, however, in everyday life. It is meant to encourage all people to eat five to nine servings of those all important fruits and vegetables each day.
 
3     Who needs a campaign to tell people fruits and vegetables are important to them? Apparently, a lot of people do. Unfortunately, many children are eating high fat foods AND high sugar foods AND high sodium foods instead of the fruits and vegetables needed to grow and stay healthy.
