Who Cares?, Chapter 2
By Kathleen Redman

1     "Hi, Eric. What's up?"

2     It was always the same. Suze always said the same four words when she saw him after school. Right now a little sister was all he needed. Couldn't she tell he wanted to be alone?

3     "The sky's up, Suze." Eric just wanted her to go away.

4     "Oh, don't be such a grouch," Suze said. "Besides, I have some good news. I was chosen for the JV cheerleading team! Isn't that great, Eric?" Suze was thirteen years old and very outgoing.

5     "What's the big deal, Suze? Cheerleaders are just silly girls that all wear the same clothes, have the same hairstyles, and even have the same color nail polish. Who would want to be a cheerleader, anyway?" Eric could see from the look on her face that Suze was hurt. Good. Maybe she would leave him alone.
