Zook: A Polar Bear's Tale of Global Warming
By Jennifer Kenny

1     Zook is a polar bear. He lives in Canada. He lives in a place near western Hudson Bay. Zook and the other polar bears there may be in real trouble. Why is that? Global warming is hurting where they live.

2     What is global warming? There are some gases that keep Earth warm. We need them or Earth would be too cold for humans. The problem, though, is what people do. People are using too many kinds of gases and oil when they use factories and drive cars. Too many extra gases warm up Earth too much.

3     For the polar bears like Zook, global warming means the sea ice is melting. Zook and other polar bears need the sea ice. They need the ice to eat, raise families, and travel.
