Milo's Mittens
By KATHLEEN W. REDMAN

Milo woke up and rubbed his eyes. He looked at his clock. It was seven-thirty in the morning! He jumped out of bed. He put on a tee shirt. He put on pants. He put on shoes and socks.

Milo ran to the living room. His father was watching the news. He did not look like he was going to work.

"Dad," Milo said, "where is your tie? Where is your suit? Why aren't you at work?"

"Look outside," his father said. "You will not be going to school, either."

Milo ran to the window. It was snowing. There was lots of snow on the ground. Everything was white!

"Dad, Dad!" Milo shouted. "Let's go outside and build a snowman."

"Slow down, Milo," his father laughed. "Let's eat breakfast first." Milo and his father went into the kitchen. Something smelled very good.

"Good morning, Milo," his mother said. "I made some blueberry muffins for breakfast."

Milo and his parents sat down at the table. Milo ate a bowl of fruit, two muffins, and a piece of bacon.
