What a Ride! Cisco Competes in Three-Day Eventing
By Colleen Messina

1     Neigh! My name is Cisco, and I sure am tired! My Girl and I have just finished a competition. I'll tell you all about that after I get a good long drink of water and some hay.

2     My Girl talks to me as though I am a person. She tells me that I am a good horse. I think I would make a good human, too, but I would rather have four legs. My Girl and I compete a lot. Our favorite type of competition is called three-day eventing. My Girl is my owner, and she is my best friend. She tells me that I am her best friend, too.

3     Three-day eventing is an equestrian competition. Equestrian means that it has to do with horses. Can you guess how long the competition takes? If you guessed three days, you are right! This type of competition is part of the Olympic Games. It is rigorous. The horse and the rider have to work hard to get ready for it. They have to practice a lot. They are very tired at the end of this competition.
