1 Hello. My name is Biff the Diving Beetle and you will vote for me, got it? I'm running for President of Bugs and I am the toughest, strongest, and meanest candidate there is. If you don't vote for me, I might have to get tough!
2 Let me tell you about me and just exactly how tough I am. I'm a beetle about an inch long. Diving beetles like me are dark colored, and some of us have spots. We can be found all over North America and in other parts of the world. I like to live around wetlands and lakes but generally not around rivers. I'm not seen very often because I spend a lot of my time underwater.
3 If you think I must be a good swimmer, you're right. I love to swim. I've even found a pretty neat way to be able to swim. When I'm on the surface of the water, I trap air under my wings. When I go underwater, I can breathe all that air under my wings. That is pretty cool, huh?
