Family Reunion
By KATHLEEN W. REDMAN

My family went on a long vacation this summer. Mom told me we would see many people. She called it a family reunion. Dad said that it would be lots of fun. There would be food and games, too.

We traveled over four hundred miles to get to the reunion. My sister Anne and I read some books. We played some games. Our baby brother Tim was asleep most of the time. Dad drove the car. Mom sang songs with us and told us about some of our relatives.

The reunion was at Grandma and Grandpa Adams' house. The house is on a hill in the country. There were lots of cars and even more people. Many of the people were strangers to me. Mom told us that they were all family, not strangers.

I saw a boy on a swing. "That's Terry," Dad said. "He is your cousin."

Someone was carrying a watermelon. "Her name is Bonnie," Mom said. "She is one of your aunts. She is also my sister!"

Anne and I went to play with the other children. We played for a long time. The sun was very bright. We got very hot. I wanted something cold.

"Dad," I asked my father, "may I have something nice and cold?"

"Go ask your mother," Dad said.
