Keeping Your Kidneys Healthy
By Kathleen W. Redman

1     "Good morning, boys and girls. This is Dr. Darion, and I am going to tell you how to keep your kidneys healthy. First of all, your kidneys should eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. They should drink lots and lots of water. And then they should be sure to do a lot of exercises. If they went for a walk every day, that would be good, too."

2     Do you think Dr. Darion is giving you good advice about keeping your kidneys healthy? No, of course he isn't. Kidneys can't do all those things. But you can. You can help your kidneys stay healthy by the things you do.

3     Eat healthy food. Your kidneys (and the rest of your body) need healthy food to do their work. People with diabetes or some kidney problems need to be very careful about what they eat.
