Jingle Bells in Space

1     Ding! Ding! Ding! Bells make a happy sound. Long ago, people thought that bells scared evil spirits away. Today at Christmas, bells are part of celebrations. Bells are part of Christmas carols. Jingle Bells is a favorite holiday song. This song was written in 1857. The song was first written for a Thanksgiving church service. People liked it so much they sang it again at Christmas! This popular song was even sung in space. It was part of a Christmas joke. The astronauts aboard the Gemini 6A played the joke. It was in 1965. They tricked the staff at Mission Control. At first, the two men said they saw an object that looked like a satellite. They said they saw "one large module." They also saw "8 smaller .....
