The Inauguration of a President

1     Every four years, Americans elect a president. Then there is an inauguration (in-ah-gyeh-RAY-shun). This event is almost always set on January 20, but if that date is on Sunday, the ceremonies take place on January 21. It is almost like a party for the president! The event is held in Washington, D.C. That is our nation's capital. First there is a swearing-in ceremony. That is when the president-elect becomes our president. Later that day, there is a parade. The president is in it. .....
