By Kathleen W. Redman

1     Hi there! You probably don't like dirty, noisy people, do you? I'm dirty and noisy, but I think you'll find me to be pretty amazing.

2     My name's Dharma, and I'm a dust storm. You can find me in many parts of the world. You can probably guess by my name that I like deserts. Deserts, of course, are where there are lots of sand. There aren't many plants to hold the sand or soil in place. Winds and loose sand or soil are what I need. You can find me most of the time in Africa and the Middle East.

3     For me to show up, there has to be a lot of wind. In very dry areas, winds pick up sand and dust from the ground. The winds pick them up and throw them down, which loosens even more sand and dust.
