An E-mail from Tommy the Tornado
By Kathleen W. Redman

1     Hi. I hope you're having a good day. I'm sure you already know me. I'm Tommy the Tornado. I'm a little dizzy right now, so forgive me if my message is hard to read!

2     Of all the different kinds of storms, many people are afraid of me most. I'm hard to predict, strong, and very dangerous. I can cause lots of damage and can hurt and kill many people.

3     I'm a very special kind of storm. I'm a column of swirling winds that reaches all the way from the ground up to the clouds in the sky. It's only when I touch the ground and the sky that I'm called a tornado. You can find me most everywhere in the world, but I most frequently visit the American Midwest.
