My Ears
By Kathleen W. Redman

1     Hi! My name is Randi. Today the school nurse will give us a hearing test. I will hold a peg against my cheek. I will listen very carefully. When I hear a sound, I will put the peg in the pegboard. The test will be fun!

2     I know my hearing is good. I can hear my cat licking her paws. Some children can't hear very well. They have a hard time hearing people talk. Other children can't hear at all. They are deaf. I would not like to be deaf. I would not be able to hear my cat licking her paws. I would not even be able to hear her meow.

3     I can hear beautiful things with my ears. I can hear music. I can hear birds singing. I can hear my baby sister laugh. I can hear people talking. I can hear my mother calling me. I can hear bees buzzing. I can hear my best friend. I love being able to hear!
